ASHTANGA

the eight limbs

Enter into the eight limbs of yoga with this intensive month of practice and training in Mysore, the birthplace of Ashtanga Yoga.

Enjoy your days in a traditional shala not far from where the venerated Pattabhi Jois, BKS Iyengar, and BNS Iyengar studied and trained with Sri T. Krishnamacharya. This is a chance to dive deep into your experience and understanding of the profundity of ashtanga at its roots. Mattia is a highly experienced and passionate teacher who has lived and studied in Mysore for the last decade with BNS Iyengar among other esteemed teachers. In this training he will transmit the teachings of his teachers, sharing his subtle knowledge of prana and asana intelligence, teaching techniques and eastern philosophy. The intensity of the training will be accompanied by local excursions to discover the endless beauties and hidden treasures Mysore has to offer. Please join us for what promises to be an enlightening and engaging course of study in the royal city where yoga began.

About the program

The concept of Intensive Integral Ashtanga is our answer to countless requests from worldwide students interested in discovering ashtanga without being confined by its physical practice. It’s focus beyond the asana to the philosophy and meditation that are its foundation, give this program a broad range and unique depth. Students will learn and most importantly experience all the aspects of yoga: philosophical, physical, devotional, psychological and meditative.

Through study we will understand the historical evolution of yoga, clarity will be given in the differences among hatha and ashtanga yoga, bhakti and kriya yoga, power and vinyasa flow. By learning the logic behind the sequences and experiencing the benefits of subtle energetic work you will be empowered with the knowledge to design sequences tailored specifically to each student’s need.

Education is the pivotal point behind growth. Upon arrival you will receive a selected list of reading materials and a comprehensive manual to accompany all classroom learning and further inquiry. Students will also be provided with a kriya kit for yogic cleansing techniques. The shala is among the last yoga institutes remaining in the city center; surrounded by ancient temples and bathed in authentic Indian culture. The locals, with their fascinating stories and myths will be teaching the yoga of life as you explore the nearby markets and streets. We aim to bring the global to live local: all of the material used in the training is produced in the local community or by a nearby women’s cooperative.

If you are looking for a serious and intensive yoga program, if you are at a moment of transition in life and you need a strong foundation this training is the right choice to dive deep and to create a powerful structure from which to navigate your life. Invest one month of this year and experience the transformation and potent benefits for the rest of your life.
